Mansion.

A small series of looping animations made in Beirut,
exploring shapes and movement around inanimate objects.

Mansion.

This is a personal project made during an internship with Cardamon House in Beirut, Lebanon (May–June 2019). At the time, Cardamon House had their studio in a collective space called The Mansion, located in Zuquq al-Blat, Beirut. The story of this mansion interested me, especially because locals had re-created it as a collaborated space for people to rent studios, study in free communal areas, use the library, host poetry or exhibition nights, or relax in the garden.

This type of animation is wonderful for sharing stories and connecting viewers to a place; whether it be existing, historical, futuristic or imagined. I like to think there is more to what the eye can see, and this series explores that in a simple way using shapes and moving objects within and around the window in Cardamon House studio, the shelves of the library and the well used stairs that have a history of their own.
